Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois
The Kite Society of Wisconsin and Illinois was formed in 1978 in
memory of Frank Mots, who died on May 10, 1978. Today the club has
nearly 200 members and is one of the largest, most respected kite
clubs in the country. The Kite Society features a casual kite fly
on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, The Frank Mots Kite Festival
on the Second Saturday of September, and the Cool Fool Kite Fly
on New Years Day. The location is Veterans Park. The Kite Society
also sponsors kite flys with various community organizations such
as The Milwaukee Art Museum, US Bank, Wisconsin Dells, Gift of Wings,
and schools throughout the State. Kite-making workshops are also
held throughout the Winter. The dues to join this great organization
are the lowest in the country at $8.00 per person. Members receive
6-8 newsletters per year, access to a large kite video library,
breakfast and dinner at the Mots Festival, discounts at various
merchants, and hundreds of new kite flying friends.
